How much does a dumpster rental cost in Shreveport?

Is delivery included in the price?
Yes. Every quote is flat-rate and includes delivery, your rental period, a set tonnage allowance, and pickup. There's no separate delivery fee to calculate.
How do I book a dumpster?

Can I get a dumpster delivered the same day I call?
Often, yes — same-day delivery is one of our services and depends on truck availability that day. Call early, ideally before early afternoon, for the best shot at same-day service.
What happens if I go over my tonnage allowance?
Each rental includes a set tonnage allowance in the flat price. If your debris runs heavier than that — concrete and roofing shingles are common culprits — we'll let you know the overage rate before you're charged anything extra.
Choosing a Size
What size dumpster do I need for a garage cleanout?
Most garage or single-room cleanouts fit in a 10 or 15-yard dumpster. Our 10-yard dumpster page breaks down what typically fits.
What's the difference between a 20-yard and 30-yard dumpster?
A 20-yard handles mid-size renovations like a kitchen remodel or a couple of rooms of flooring, while a 30-yard is built for larger projects — whole-home cleanouts, additions, or bigger construction jobs. Compare all five sizes on our dumpster sizes page.
Which dumpster size is best for roofing debris?
Shingles are heavy, so most roofing jobs use a 15 or 20-yard dumpster rather than the biggest container available — it's about weight, not just volume. We can recommend a size once we know the roof's square footage and layer count.
Do I need a 40-yard dumpster for a demolition project?
It depends on the scope. A 40-yard is typically reserved for full structure demolition or large-scale construction debris; smaller demo jobs often work fine in a 20 or 30-yard. Tell us the project and we'll size it correctly.
What if I order the wrong size?
Call us before you fill it. If a swap makes sense for your project, we'll work out delivery of a different size — it's easier to fix before the container is full.
What Can and Can't Go In
What materials are prohibited in a rental dumpster?
We can't accept paint, fuel or oil, chemicals and solvents, asbestos, batteries, tires, hazardous or medical waste, or appliances holding refrigerant that haven't been evacuated. Ask us if you're unsure about a specific item.
Can I put yard waste in my dumpster?
Yes — yard waste is one of our standard services, whether it's a one-time cleanup or ongoing landscaping debris.
Can I mix construction debris and household junk in the same dumpster?
Generally yes, as long as none of it falls on the prohibited materials list. Heavier construction debris like concrete may affect which size and tonnage allowance makes sense, so mention it when you book.
What do I do with an old refrigerator or air conditioner?
Appliances that hold refrigerant need to be evacuated by a certified technician before they can go in the dumpster. Let us know ahead of time and we can advise on how to handle it.
Can concrete or heavy debris go in a standard dumpster?
Concrete, brick, and other heavy debris usually need a dedicated container or a lower fill line because of weight limits, not volume. This falls under our concrete and heavy debris service — mention it when you call so we quote the right size and tonnage.
Delivery & Placement
What do you need from me before delivery?
About 60 feet of clear space for the truck, roughly 25 feet of overhead clearance, and a flat, hard surface like a driveway or paved lot. Let us know if any of that is tight and we'll figure out a workaround.
Can the dumpster go on the street instead of my driveway?
Sometimes, but placing a container in the public right-of-way in Shreveport generally requires a permit through the City of Shreveport Engineering Permits department. We can talk through your options when you book.
Will the dumpster damage my driveway?
We take care with placement and can use protective boards under the container if you're concerned about a paved surface. A flat, stable spot is what matters most.
How long can I keep the dumpster?
Our standard rental period is 3–7 days, which covers most projects. If you need more time, call us before the rental ends and we'll work it out.
How do I schedule pickup when I'm done?

Permits & Local Rules
Do I need a permit to have a dumpster placed at my Shreveport home?
If the container sits entirely on your own driveway or property, you typically don't need a permit. If it has to sit in the street or public right-of-way, check with the City of Shreveport Engineering Permits department first. Our permit guide covers this in more detail.
Are permit rules different in Bossier or Webster Parish?
Yes — permit requirements vary by jurisdiction. Bossier Parish falls under the Bossier Parish Police Jury, Webster Parish has its own government office, and unincorporated Caddo Parish areas go through Caddo Parish Public Works rather than the City of Shreveport. If you're in Bossier City or another surrounding town, check with the local office or call us and we'll point you in the right direction.
Who do I contact about a right-of-way placement permit in Shreveport?
The City of Shreveport Engineering Permits department handles right-of-way and street placement permits within city limits. We recommend placing on private property whenever possible to avoid the extra step.
Does Knight & Sons handle the permit for me?
We can advise on whether your project likely needs one and point you to the right department, but the permit application itself is typically filed by the property owner or contractor. Ask us when you book and we'll walk you through what applies to your address.
Are there disposal rules I should know about beyond prohibited items?
Louisiana's Dept. of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) sets solid waste guidelines that we follow for disposal, and federal guidance comes from US EPA Region 6. As the renter, your main responsibility is keeping prohibited materials — paint, chemicals, asbestos, and the like — out of the container.
